Finding the right open source business intelligence solutions for your company can become a difficult task given all of the different BI vendors in the market place. Recently, our company has been searching for abusiness intelligence suite that can help us collaborate more effectively and increase interactivity utilizing data visualization software. During our search phase we looked into companies that provided a suite of business intelligence tools that would be scalable, secure and reliable. One company that we came across that seemed to carry exactly what we were looking for was Actuate. The entire website was loaded with helpful information about their product line. Also, we found that they have an entire community of developers who help maintain their software and keep it innovative. I was quite intrigued with their offerings and decided to test out the trial version of their software for evaluation purposes. Currently, our report designer is creating reports and finds it very easy to use. We have not made final decisions on this business intelligence software because we plan on trying out other competitor’s product lines before deciding but if you’re in a similar position, try out Actuate BIRT.
